Paula Coraline is a new young artist born and raised in a big city in Brazil.
Her future projects include an trip to Thailand and living in a small farm growing her own food.

Paula Coraline es una nueva joven artista, nacida y criada en una ciudad grande, en Brasil.
Sus proyectos futuros incluyen un viaje a Tailandia y vivir en una pequeña granja, produciendo su propia comida.

How did photography become a part of you?
I noticed that photography became a part of me when I started feeling outside from my own reality.
Everything seemed apart from myself and I realized photography (the act and the results)
could help me to understand this weird isolation feeling.

¿Cómo se convirtió la fotografía en una parte de ti?
Me di cuenta que la fotografía se convirtió en parte de mí cuando me empecé a sentir fuera de mi propia realidad.
Todo parecía a parte de mí misma y me di cuenta que la fotografía (el acto y los resultados) me podría ayudar a entender este sentimiento de aislamiento raro.

Why do you prefer analog?
There is a passage in «The unbearable lightness of being» in which Kundera compares
heaviness and lightness. For him, heaviness «pin us to the ground» and make our lives more truthful and close
to earth. As I’m naturally living floating around, analog photography brings heaviness and makes me feel
really there.

¿Por qué prefieres la fotografía analógica?
Hay un pasaje en «La insoportable levedad del ser» en el que Kundera compara la pesadez y ligereza. Para él, pesadez «nos sujeta al suelo» y hace nuestra vida más verdadera y realista. Como vivo naturalmente flotando, la fotografía analógica me trae pesadez y me hace sentir realmente allí.

Have you ever tried any other forms of art?
I tried painting but it was too intense for me.
But later this knowledge would help me to hand paint my photographs.

¿Alguna vez has tratado cualquier otra forma de arte?
Traté de pintar, pero era demasiado intenso para mí. Después, este conocimiento me ayudaría a pintar a mano mis fotografías.

I loved the latest project you did in july. How did that come up and was it hard working for someone else?
These images are actually a trade between a wonderful friend of mine and I.
Her name is Giulia and she’s a very talented tattooer. She tattooed me and I spent one morning shooting her.
It was very easy to work with her because we have a lot in common, including our love for the natural
and brute state of things. I like to think that she is a sister of witchcraft.

Me encantó el último proyecto que hizo en julio.¿Cómo surgió eso y fue difícil trabajar para alguien más?
Estas imágenes son en realidad un trato entre una maravillosa amiga mía y yo.
Su nombre es Julia y ella es una tatuadora muy talentosa.

Ella me tatuó y yo pasé una mañana fotografiándola.
Fue muy fácil trabajar con ella porque tenemos muchas cosas en común, incluyendo nuestro amor por lo natural y el estado bruto de las cosas.

Me gusta pensar que ella es una hermana de la brujería.

Any future projects?
«Reconnection with reality» are the words in my mind right now.
I think my next photography project will, somehow, approach this feeling

«La reconexión con la realidad» son las palabras en mi mente ahora mismo.
Creo que mi próximo proyecto de fotografía será, de alguna manera, el enfoque de este sentimiento.
